It's high-fantasy but like in the "softer" range, so if you like books with some fantasy but not too much (if that makes sense), this is a good in-between. Despite the fact that there are elves, this isn't anything like LOTR. There were some parts near the end I maybe felt like I just had to get through, but overall I'd recommend giving it a go. I already can't wait for the next in the series! For a fantasy, there weren't as many characters as I expected (maybe like five main ones) but I actually enjoyed that a lot because I really got to know the characters that were in there! Mainly Venick and Ellina. Also, the war between the two sides is intriguing and interesting. If you love stories that combine romance, mystery, danger and magic, this is a story that you will most likely greatly enjoy. Then there's Ellina, the main female elf, who decides to save his life rather than kill him. We learn that this man (named Venick) is an outlaw and was banished for a murder, and now is basically just trying to survive. The story starts out with the male lead, who is a human man, when he is caught in the elven forest by the elves.

The description for this book was what first definitely had me intrigued, and I'm glad to say I really loved this one! I think the author's writing style is so wonderful and they make it so easy to feel for the characters!! An unpredictable twist (actually there are two) A strong female lead (without being overdone) For readers who love fast-paced action with a side of romance, Elvish is the first novel in the Elvish Trilogy.Įdit: I've read Elvish twice now, and just to help those of you who are undecided, (firstly, READ THIS BOOK) but second, I just wanted to say that you'll love this book if you love: Magic, love and fate collide in this fantasy adventure from S.G. But every choice comes with consequences, and Venick must decide if it's worth risking his life to protect a race that hates him, all to save an elf he's not allowed to love. Then Venick uncovers a dark secret, and suddenly the fate of the elflands seems to rest in his hands. In a moment of intuition, Ellina decides to give Venick a chance: learn elvish, reveal his truths, and she will set him free.Īs Ellina and Venick grow to know one another, their feelings start to shift. Desperate, he lies about his identity in hopes the elves will spare his life.Įllina doesn't trust the human, and not merely because he speaks the language of men. When Venick is caught wandering the elflands, he knows the penalty is death. It's against the law for elves and humans to fall in love.
